چکیده
Decentralized, smart indoor cultivation systems can produce herbs and vegetables for fresh healthy daily nutrition of the urban population. This study assesses technical resource requirements, productivity, economic viability “Smart Office Farm” (SOF), based on a 5-week production cycle curled lettuce, lolo rosso, pak choi basil at three photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) levels using randomized block design. The total matter yield consumable biomass all crops was 2.5 kg m−2 with operating expenses (without labor costs) EUR 53.14 kg−1; more than twice as expensive compared to large-scale vertical farm open-field cultivation. However, there is no need add trade margins transportation costs. electricity supply SOF 73%, by far largest contributor operational costs office-based crop production. Energetic optimizations such homogeneous PPFD distribution plant level, well adaptation light quality quantity needs increase small farms. With reduced costs, growing become viable option supporting in environments.

Techno-economic assessment of regional biomass use
An approach for techno-economic optimisation and for the analysis of industrial biomass use is proposed in this paper. The ARGUS model (German acronym for: allocation module for a computer-aided generation of environmental strategies for emissions), based on linear programming, has been implemented as one of the few models that investigates VOC emissions from approximately 40 industrial sectors...
متن کاملIntermittent claudication: an objective office-based assessment.
OBJECTIVES We sought to compare standard lower extremity vascular laboratory treadmill exercise with the office-based active pedal plantarflexion technique. BACKGROUND Intermittent claudication is relatively common in elderly patients and is an important predictor of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Noninvasive testing using resting and posttreadmill exercise ankle:brachial systolic bl...
متن کاملComparative techno-economic assessment and LCA of selected integrated sugarcane-based biorefineries.
This work addresses the economic and environmental performance of integrated biorefineries based on sugarcane juice and residues. Four multiproduct scenarios were considered; two from sugar mills and the others from ethanol distilleries. They are integrated biorefineries producing first (1G) and second (2G) generation ethanol, sugar, molasses (for animal feed) and electricity in the context of ...
متن کاملIntegration of Microalgae-Based Bioenergy Production into a Petrochemical Complex: Techno-Economic Assessment
The rapid development of modern society has resulted in an increased demand for energy, mainly from fossil fuels. The use of this source of energy has led to the accumulation of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. In this context, microalgae culturing may be an effective solution to reduce the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere, since these microorganisms can capture CO2 and, simultaneousl...
متن کاملTechno-Economic Assessment of Heat Recovery in Series Condensers Arrangement: Hot and Humid Regions
A direct expansion (DX) HVAC system is an efficient way to supply fresh and dehumidified air to a built environment. To improve the efficiency of a conventional DX system in hot and humid regions, fresh air dehumidification and conditioning systems with energy recovery measures are the key equipment to reach such a goal. To achieve this goal an integrated system is proposed. The integrated syst...
